The College of Philosophy and Theology
The College offers 4-year (Bachelor degree) and 5-year (Specialist and Master degree) programs (full-time, part-time and external):
- Philosophy (Religious Studies)
The College has a specialized Academic Council for conferring Doctorate and Candidate degrees.
The College of Philosophy and Theology has been functioning since 1875 (closed in 1940). And only due to the Independence of Ukraine they started their activity in 1993 as the unique College of Philosophy and Theology.
There are three departments: Philosophy; Religious Studies and Theology; and Sociology.
The department of theology, a branch of Kyiv Theological Academy, is an integral part of the College.
The theology majors have practical trainings in the University Church.
The faculty do their research in the problems of spirituality, the history of the world culture and Ukrainian philosophical thought, the history of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the origin and development of monkhood, etc. The results of their research are published in the Collection of Papers, “Religious Panorama” newspaper, “The Man and the World” journal, and other publications.
The Faculty numbers six full professors, sixteen associate professors, and seven post-graduate students. The College hosts international conferences and seminars due to close scientific cooperation between the Department of Religion and Theology and the Section of Religious Studies of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the College hosts international conferences and seminars.
The students publish “Ya - Student” (“I Am A Student”) newspaper. They take part in various contests and are the members of numerous sports clubs and art societies.
